Annual meeting agrees changes

A number of significant changes were made at the club AGM held on November 18.

Robert Bellfield has taken over from Mike Smith as club chair. Mike is stepping down after seven years in that role. Graeme Mutch is the new treasurer, taking over from Robert Burdett, who expects to be leaving the area in the next few months.

The meeting heard that good progress had been made on the court resurfacing project, with the first stage completed in October and the final painting due to take place in the spring. The financing of the project had been difficult, as despite a grant of £1,000 from the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust and the prospect of a further grant to cover the painting, the project had only been able to go ahead thanks to donations from members, helped by our ability, as a Community Amateur Sports Club, to claim gift aid.

In order to put club finances back onto a sound basis it was agreed that next year’s fees will be £70 for individual membership; £150 for families; and £12 for juniors. These are still low compared with the rates charged by other clubs in the area. Fees will also be payable from March – the start of the summer season.

The meeting also agreed to update this website and to look at what more could be done to promote the club and recruit new members.
