Senior Club Nights

Senior club sessions are held on Tuesday and Friday nights from 6.30pm commencing Tuesday 14th April 2009. League matches take priority so check the events calendar first. Juniors are allowed to play until 7.30pm.

Monfris

Each Monday and Friday morning - throughout the year - a group of members turn out to play tennis.  You don't have to be a good player, just sociable and wanting to enjoy a game.  If you want to join in just turn up at about 9.30 a.m. or telephone Pam Whitehead (01729) 860235.

The emphasis is on everybody getting a chance to take part, so we play doubles, "the best of four games", before changing partners and possibly having a sit down, a cup of coffee and a good gossip.  There are Monfris of all ages.  Currently the oldest (and one of the best) is eighty and a couple of young members, still at school and not yet into their teens, have been made welcome.

Most of the club's social events are organised by Monfris and they even indulge in trips abroad, ostensibly to play tennis.  So far they have been to La Manga three times and Portugal once.

Many new members have found their way into the club via the Monfris, so don't be shy!

The "Monfris" began some years ago when four lady members decided to do their own thing and make Mondays and Fridays a regular date.  Is anyone brave enough to give it a go on Tuesdays or Fridays?

This Friday (19th December) Ian Plimmer brought mulled wine and nibbles.  A big vote of thanks.

What would we do without Frances?  After the runaway success of the Club's dinner she went on to organise the Monfris' winter bash, which will be held at New Butts on 10th January, 2009.  If you are a Monfri you should be there!

Club Championships General Info

The annual championships provide an excellent opportunity for all members to test their skills against opponents that they may not normally play.   A veterans doubles tournament will also be included in the championships open to male and female members over 60 years of age. Those who participate will not be eligible to play in the main championship.

The format will be different again this year. All group rounds will be played on one day, with the finals being held on a seperate finals day in September. The matches will be played over two sets, and in the event of a tie, a championship style tie break will be played.

At least the first round of each event will be drawn before the day, which will start at 9.30am.  If you are interested in playing in the championships please fill in the attached form and hand it to Pam Whitehead.  Players may select their own doubles partners or leave it to Pam to find partners for them.
